HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Today being Father's Day I thought I'd pay a small tribute to the man in my home, the father of 6 great children. Fatherhood is an often under-appreciated calling, but that is one of the best qualities about Dave and one of the reasons I fell in love with him. He is a great Dad in all the ways that count - he loves his children, he does everything he can to help his children when he knows their needs, he provides a great example of integrity (his work ethics are above reproach), and he is a dependable father who has been, and always will be, there for them. If you ask him for help, he will be there early to get started on the task at hand! I think being a Dad is his most favorite title - he will sometimes "over-Dad" the kids forgetting they are all over 25 now! But, your kids are always your kids - even when they're 25, 28, 31, 33, 35, and 36! I hope they all know that he always has their best interests at heart. And the added bonus to fatherhood - he gets to be a Grand-Dad! Who could ask for anything more?

A Lazy Friday Evening

After some serious time cleaning and recovering lost data (our computer crashed Thursday), Dave and Terry decided a trip to Tempe Town Lake to fish was in order. (Did I mention they went to the Bass Pro Shop AGAIN Friday morning?) Anyway, off we went right before sundown to enjoy some time at the lake. Fishing was not good - or should I say, fishing is always good - the fish just weren't biting. I reeled in a couple of times and then proceed to get out my crocheting. It was nice sitting by the water with a light breeze flowing over me. When the light was about gone, I sat and enjoyed the scenery and watched the planes in the flight path descending for their landing. And, of course, took pictures!

He Loves Me, He Loves Bass Pro, He Loves Me...

Interesting story here. Dave and I are planning our week and one of our conclusions was that he would take the car and drive up to Jim's cabin to work on Tuesday and come back Wednesday evening. Well, lo and behold, here he comes in the house Tuesday evening. I was surprised - but definitely OK he was home early! Then, Wednesday morning he says "What's Terry's plan for the Bass Pro shop?" At that point I understand - I don't think he really came home early for anything to do with me - HE WANTED TO GO TO THE BASS PRO SHOP GRAND OPENING on Wednesday night! So, off Terry, Cathi, Dave and I go to the big to-do. We wait in the crowd for the doors to open (lot's of speeches and they all thank the same people - can't one person do the thanking for all?) and then swim through the crowded stream of people into the even more crowded store. But, have no fear, purchases were made! (OK - even I found some cute sandals!) And now we can say - we were among the first visitor's to the new Bass Pro Shop in Mesa, Arizona!

LOGAN'S VISIT

While Logan was visiting, he spent some fun times with his cousin, Ryan. They visited several parks and McDonald's Playland a couple of times. One night they even had a sleepover in the tent in our family room. Both boys really enjoyed playing with each other.

And besides playing with Ryan, Logan got to spend some time with the "girl" cousins, Kailee and Caitlin. We had such a good time with Logan here - if only he were closer (Boise, Idaho, is FAR away!) so we all could have more of these times together. There is always the next visit to look forward to!

Random Facts/Habits About Me:
1. Family is great - I can't imagine my life without the one I've got. We have great kids, along with their spouses, and grandkids. Family to me includes extended family as well (sisters, sisters/brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews).
2. My favorite color is blue (I know, Logan, it's Daddy's, too.)
3. I'm learning, with much credit (OK, ALL credit) to Jamie, to make baby blankets and crochet around the edges. If I ever get as good as she is, I'm buying stock in Jo-Ann's!
4. I have two older sisters (10 and 11'ish years older). But the most interesting part of that information is that, contrary to what you might initially think, my Mom always told me I was the only planned child!
5. I have the most amazing granchildren - did I mention that? If you don't believe me, keeping checking out this blog spot! Did I mention their intelligence and good looks? (They get that from me - hee, hee!)
6. I just realized I've been to about half the states in the U.S., plus Washington, D.C. - either through work or pleasure trips. Maybe I should make it a goal to visit the other half!
7. My BFF (and husband) and I served a mission at the Mesa Regional Family History Center.
8. I'm old enough to remember when Paula Abdul was an entertaining sensation herself and not just a judge on American Idol! Hey, I even have a concert ticket stub from when my wonderful husband (who isn't necessarily a fan) took me to her concert!
