Pathetic

That's what the media coverage of this campaign is - pathetic. I have been searching for some light-hearted political cartoon to put here to brighten up the tone of my last two postings. Do you know what I could find? Only cartoons that lambasted McCain - not a one of them was in support of anything McCain stands for or acknowledging his continued battle in spite of all his opposition. If you find one, let me know. I'm not going to take all this "it's a done deal" stuff lying down! Until the last vote is counted, I'm hoping for the very best outcome.

So, instead of an amusing cartoon, you'll get another dose of why Barack Obama is not good for our country. Much has been made of his association with William Ayers, the domestic terrorist (what else do you call someone who is an integral part of a group that bombs courthouses, federal buildings, and the capitol??). Here is a sort of "connect the dots," if you will:



• Ayers and Obama worked together for years on a school reform program called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge.

• Ayers and Obama also served together on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago, a separate charity organization.

• Obama had his political coming-out party in William Ayers' home.

• Ayers mentions Obama by name in a book he wrote in 1997, and mentions that the two are very close neighbors.

• Obama gave a short glowing review of that same Ayers book for the Chicago Tribune.

• Obama and Ayers were both presenters together on a panel about juvenile justice (organized by Michelle Obama).

• Both Obama and Ayers were close friends with the same person, Rashid Kalidi.

• There are also several unverified rumors swirling around that have not been documented: That Ayers may have helped to write part (or all) of Obama's autobiography; that Obama and Ayers shared an office space together for three years, on the same floor of the same building in Chicago; and that Ayers and Obama may have known each other as far back as 1981



This same William Ayers wrote a book back in 1974, Praire Fire, that is completely un-American and guess to whom, among others, this book is dedicated to? Sirhan Sirhan - Robert Kennedy's assassin. And the Democrats are touting Obama and all he stands for as their shining light??? I can't figure people out. Do they really know who they are voting for?



Here is an excerpt from the beginning of that book:

In this way we create the conditions for the development of a successful revolutionary movement and party. And another thing, why are Catholics supporting Obama with his views on abortion, specifically the stance he takes on failed abortions and letting babies born alive wither and die without intervention? Again, I can't figure people out.


If there are two things Catholic Democrats stand behind it's Kennedys and the right to life. Neither of these two things seem to be in Barack Obama's top 100 list of priorities.

OK, I've stood it as long as I can. The mainstream media is so biased in their reporting that it is beyond laughable - it's downright scary. (For some unbiased confirmation of that, go here .) There are so many things that ARE NOT being said that NEED TO BE said. This will probably sound like a rant, but I guess that's what I need to do right now.


First, all those supporting Obama get all uptight and offended when BHO (Barack Hussein Obama) is referred to as a socialist. Well, look at the definition of socialism.


Socialism:
An economic system in which the production and distribution of goods are controlled substantially by the government rather than by private enterprise, and in which cooperation rather than competition guides economic activity. There are many varieties of socialism. Some socialists tolerate capitalsim, as long as the government maintains the dominant influence over the economy; others insist on an abolition of private enterprise. All communists are socialists, but not all socialists are communists.





Now, go here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iivL4c_3pck) and listen to BHO's interview with a Chicago radio station in 2001.

Someone in the blogosphere put it best regarding BHO: "He does like to sound all learned and quiet and respectful but his words reveal a radical point of view."

Now, you can dismiss his radio interview as "too long ago to count" (seems to be the mantra for anything that comes up in the BHO campaign that detracts from the Obamasiah) or "that wasn't what he meant (are you kidding me - you seriously expect me to believe you were inside his mind and KNOW what he meant?), but the same theme comes up time and again. Most recently it was displayed in his "Joe the Plumber" encounter. Redistribution of wealth, spread the wealth around, yadda, yadda, yadda. It's all the same and he never changes his opinion on that.

Bring all this together along with his ticket's various ways of saying the rich should pay for the poor (i.e. the well-to-do should consider it their patriotic duty to pay more taxes), and we have a clear idea of what the former Secretary of Agriculture, Ezra Taft Benson, (and who was later the Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) was told by Nikita Khrushchev about the idea of communism infiltrating our country. Here's an excerpt of that discussion: "As we talked face to face, he indicated that my grandchildren would live under communism. After assuring him that I expected to do all in my power to assure that his and all other grandchildren will live under freedom he arrogantly declared in substance: “‘You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won’t have to fight you. We’ll so weaken your economy until you’ll fall like overripe fruit into our hands.’"

Again, you will find nay-sayers who will deny this ever happened. All I need to know is President Ezra Taft Benson wrote a book and his encounter is chronicled in this book. Unless you were with then-Secretary of Agriculture Benson and Nikita Khrushchev, you don't have the authority discount it.



And, as a final note, I bring to light what my sister and I were talking about this morning. The last time Democrats held the office of president and controlled the Congress, the unemployment rate was approaching 10% and the 12-13% interest rates on mortgages hadn't peaked yet. During Carter's administration, the economy suffered double-digit inflation coupled with very high interest rates, oil shortages, high unemployment and slow economic growth. You really think those were the "good ol' days?" Should BHO get in, remember you have to keep your eye on Pelosi and Reid, too.



My rant is over - for now. I can't promise that I won't go off again before next week. So, my parting thought is this:

You've Had a Birthday...

and you still look like the same guy I started celebrating birthdays with 20 years ago! Happy Birthday to my better half (yes, I said better)! We've had fun all day just hanging out together and planning our weeks to come (elk season, you know!). The day started with me surprising you by having your present and card waiting for on the kitchen table when you got up (you let me sleep in for YOUR birthday - thank you!). We ended the day by going out to dinner and later, your birthday milkshake! (We are low-key people - doesn't take much to make us happy!) Happy Birthday to you - I love you more than you can imagine! Thank you for letting me celebrate with you - here's hoping there are many, many more birthdays to come!

After a couple of weeks in Idaho, the whole fam damily headed down to Utah for conference weekend. It was fun having Jon and Patrick together in the same house...for a while. You know that wrestling thing that goes on in your houses, Kim and Sheri? Let's just say there aren't any statistics from our family that shows it is ever outgrown!! So, again, rather than pontificate on the joys of our vacation, you can see for yourself the fun that was had by all!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and even got the bonus of seeing Heather's family. We love being with them and love hearing family stories whenever they are together. As is the case in all vacations, they must come to an end. So we headed back to sunny Arizona (it was snowing in Utah when we left) and are eagerly awaiting our next northern adventure!!

We started out early September and headed to Idaho by way of Utah. We stayed a couple of days with Patrick and Heather before heading to Idaho. We (and by we, I mean Dave) payed for our room and board while in Utah by helping install a peep hole in the front door. (We always like to do our share of chores!)

Then we made our way to Idaho to see Logan, Lexi, Jamie and Jon. Let the grandkid fun begin!! We had Logan only part of the day because he is now a big kindergarten kid! So we got him after school at noon and spent some quality Logan-time. Then we got Lexi after her nap and spent every day playing. (Getting up and down off the floor was a real workout for me!) The time was short - it passed so quickly. But, rather than bore you with words, enjoy my pictures of the fun times in Idaho!!
