How’d you like that title!?
As usual, I’m a day late and a dollar short, so hang on tight, it’s
going to be a long ride to “current!”
January
Had a little Cameron and Colin fun. Those two play well together!
I love that you can hear how much fun they are having!
And then I had a little surgery done on Thursday, the 15th. Not gonna lie, it wasn’t fun.
They poked about 4 holes in me, took out 3 chunks of my
right lung, cauterized where those chunks were cut out, and put a big ol’ drain tube in the 4th
hole. Apparently I must be sensitive to
the anesthesia, because I should have been awake before 4:00 pm (surgery was at
1:30 pm) and I didn’t wake up until 4:00 AM!
Either that or I was tired. The
bad part was, I was asleep and didn’t really know or care what was going on –
poor Dave was a little disconcerted! So,
I was in ICU a little longer than anticipated!
Plus I think he was a tad concerned since the doc told him that recovery
from this surgery was more painful than recovery from open heart surgery.
The hospital was great – they had me on a wonderful pain
management plan!!
I left on Sunday and went home with my designated nurse, who
is also my husband! He took the best
care of me – fixed all my meals, doctored my incisions and my reaction to the
surgical tape, helped me get up and down out of the recliner that I slept in
for 14 days because I couldn’t lay flat without pain, and he even slept in
another recliner the whole time. He said
he wasn’t going to sleep in bed if I couldn’t sleep in bed – he must love me!
Loved the cute get well card from two cute little boys –
camo bandaids are the best!!
Oh, why I was there.
Seems as though my lungs aren’t working quite right. For the past year I’ve been seeing a
pulmonologist and getting all kinds of scans.
One doc said “you’ve got IPF” and kind of left it at that! Well, that was a little bit of a “hmmm…what
now” moment. My mother passed away and
the cause was attributed to IPF – Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Just means your lungs are scarring and they
don’t know why. Eventually, you just run
out of air. Life expectancy is in the
2-5 year range. So, I went on with that
thought and changed doctors, too. She
wanted to do a lung biopsy. There are
risks with that and we initially said, no, not going to do that. We changed our minds and thus the surgery on
the 15th. Glad we did it,
because according to Mayo Clinic, it is not IPF, it is NSIP (Non Specific
Intersitial Pneumonia (or Pneumonitis in some circles). All things being equal, you don’t want that
either. But it sure beats the other
prognosis by a long shot! We are looking
at 3-4 times the life expectancy!! So,
while I have crappy lungs and they don’t know why I have crappy lungs, at least
I can use my oxygen and keep on going!
Life is different, but it’s life!!
February
We had the CA Lambsons for a visit! They came over to be at the funeral of our
friend, Bob Bogle. I’ve known Bob for almost 26
years and Dave has known him for longer than that! Their kids are friends with our kids. Betty, his wife, is one of the sweetest women
I have ever had the privilege to meet.
Bob had been suffering the effects of a stroke for years and was able to
released from his bodily limitations.
While they were here, we had some fun, playing one of Sofia’s favorite
games, Headbands!
We had a cute little score keeper!!
Then spent a little time watching a wrestling event -
The headed to Idaho for Lexi's baptism day!! She was so excited and we are so proud of her!!
We had lots of fun in our short trip!
Papa had the most fun at the Discovery Center!
We’re almost current – stick with me!! One or two more sessions and we'll be there!
