More of Idaho!

Lots of fun happenings are yet to be shared (and as long as I can stay patient with Blogger - it's still being persnickety with me!)!

Here's a morning that I liked - we took the kids fishing.

See the baby ducks swimming? See that there is no mama duck swimming with them? That's because mama duck is pacing, well swimming back and forth in short spans, in front of our fishing spot. She was quacking for all she was worth, too! We surmised that she was warning us, telling us to stay away from her babies. She never lunged at us or even acted like she was ever going to attack. It really seemed like she'd drawn a line in the sand, or water if you will, and we shouldn't cross it. This went on for quite a while until we discovered what she was REALLY trying to tell us. She had a baby caught up in some old fishing line and weeds at the edge of the pond. It was amazing that Dave reached down, held the baby duck so he wouldn't accidentally cut him, and freed him from his bondage all while mama duck looked on and not once EVER made any advancement toward Dave. She knew he was helping her and her baby! It was such a beautiful moment and I wish I had taken video, but I was so caught up in what was happening.

When baby duck was free he swam to mama's side and they then joined the rest of the family swimming around. It was a feel good moment to be sure!!

Awwww! What a sweet story. Dave saved the baby duck. Yea for Dave!!!!! The mommy duck would have quacked up if Dave hadn't saved her baby.
