1. Patrick and Heather are buying a house and I am excited for them. Being the youngest in the family, you tend to not let go - it kind of signals you're no longer needed - you know, the "empty nest syndrome" thing. Well, with them buying their house it is kind of a huge signal that they are indeed grown up and on their own!
2. Kailee is 11 years old today. Wow. And she's a pretty mature 11 year old, too. I was so excited when she was born - and that really seems like only yesterday. She is a beautiful girl - just like her Mom.
3. Marcy and Bremen are flying on a plane over the ocean heading to the Vienna, Austria, airport as I sit here. Bremen was so excited to be going to see his Daddy. I love that he loves his Daddy so much - he does have a special one!
4. Charlotte and Bill got a dog Friday. Why? Wouldn't you think 2 kids cute kids were enough for them to handle? Nope, they got a black lab puppy. I love dogs - but I've decided I like other people owning them. We did the dog thing and I don't see us every doing it again - too much trouble! I guess they need to experience it for themselves - I know Caitlin sure is happy!
5. Lexi turned 1 year old last week - I really miss her and her brother. (I miss Jon and Jamie, too.) I think there should be a law that grandkids have to live within 4 hours of grandparents. Even that might be too far - Jack lives about 45 minutes away and it's hard to just stop in for a visit. Ok - let's change that law to say they have to live within 30 minutes of grandparents.
6. And something totally random - I love Motown music. You know, the "old" Motown stuff - Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, etc. I really appreciate a lot of music - country, pop, disco - but I really want to get up and move when the old Motown tunes start playing!

That's what's on my mind at this hour on this day!

I can't believe Charlotte got a dog! Good for her - my kids have been begging me forever to get one. But I don't think I could take care of one more thing.
I am excited for Pat and Heather too! Getting a dog is a HUGE step, but I'm not one to talk - I have two, and we got them before Melanie. You certainly have good taste in music. Marvin Gaye is definitely a favorite for me
Ok Laura, I liked this blog, but only one of those things was actually about YOU. It was nice to get an update on the family though.
Kim, Kim, Kim - I am all about my family!! (And those were the first 6 things that came to my mind.)
I can't believe I got the dog too. But, the kids love her. Can you dogsit on Friday Laura?
**** JUST KIDDING ****
Charlotte, I am truly shocked that you of all people agreed to get a dog. Now that you have opened up your home to pets, can I interest you in a loving cat?
You mean the one that pukes all the time? (Sorry, Teresa, truth in advertising!!)
shhhh....you aren't helping. Actually, since putting the flooring in, he hasn't puked once. Go figure.
Yae for your family! Everyone is doing something. You are a great grandma!
