After All These Years...

...I finally did what he's begged me to do every October for 21 years. Every time he asked I'd say "you're crazy" or "NO - and don't ask again" or I'd just give him the stink eye. It really made me wonder if he had lost a marble or two!

He did tell me, when I decided to do it, that I couldn't say he made me do it - that I was doing it of my own free will. OK. I accept that. And actually, while we were doing it I felt kind of like a rebel. A nonconformist. It was not normal. But it was fun!

What is it we did and should I be telling what we did, you ask?

We fixed Thanksgiving dinner today!!

Every time the calendar says it's fall, Dave will say "why don't we fix a turkey" and I'll say "are you crazy? Thanksgiving is only a month or so away." I'll add to it the "if you want turkey so bad, why don't we fix it any other time of the year besides Thanksgiving" remark.

Well, we got a large roaster and we wanted to try it out - make sure it worked. So it started out with me saying "why don't we get a small turkey and we can pick on it for several days." It wasn't a big invitation to do a big Thanksgiving dinner. Next thing I know, he goes to the store and comes home with a 22-pound turkey. Well, OK - we'll be eating on it for a week! Then as we are getting groceries, he says "we could do some dressing with the turkey" and throws the stuff in. So I ask if he wants mashed potatoes - of course he does!

Shoot, if we're going that far, I've got the stuff to make Lion House rolls - might as well throw that on the menu. And, hey, if we're having turkey, gravy, potatoes, dressing, rolls we just gotta have pumpkin pie! Let me tell you, our rehersal dinner was real fine!!

So, my friends, let us be the first to wish ya'll a Happy Thanksgiving!! We KNOW it's going to be a good one for us!
